Duties Description The Professional Engineer 1 in Highway plays a vital role in the department's functionality, particularly during snow \& ice. This position assists the Division Highway Engineer (DHE) in the overall supervision of the five highway work units within the Division and may act as a fill\-in for the DHE in their absence. Duties: Provides engineering guidance \& supervision on a variety of Highway repair projects involving guide rail and attenuator systems, pavement, drainage, culverts, embankments, signs, fencing, landscaping, sound barriers and Right of Way (ROW) improvements. Aid in prioritizing work plans and schedules, allocating labor, equipment and materials, justifying equipment purchases and preparing the annual budget. Responsible for the management of the highway culvert inspection program for the Syracuse Division. Serve as the Capital Program manager for the Division. May represent the Division at Metropolitan Planning Organization meetings May be assigned as a Division Duty Officer and part of the Division Operations Center team.
