Make a lasting difference for New Mexico’s public lands with EcoServants AmeriCorps. Members serve in Lincoln and Otero Counties, building, maintaining, and restoring sustainable public trails to protect watersheds, improve safe access, and support outdoor recreation and local communities. Projects are coordinated with the USDA Forest Service and local land management partners. Supervised crews address erosion, drainage problems, unsustainable trail alignments, and deferred maintenance, including wildfire\- and flood\-related impacts where applicable. Service includes trail construction and rerouting, invasive vegetation removal, erosion control, drainage repair, and documentation of completed work. Members gain hands\-on experience in conservation, teamwork, and crew leadership. Training opportunities include First Aid/CPR, saw operation, GIS data collection, HAM radio communications, Incident Command System, and disaster preparedness. These experiences support pathways into conservation, forestry, land management, wildland firefighting, and related skilled trades.
