Description

Duties and Responsibilities * Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. * Collect fluid or tissue samples using appropriate collection procedures. * Take blood tests and submit them to the Laboratory Company. * Provide service in accordance with reimbursement, ethical and legal guidelines. * Inform the physician and other related personnel of changes in the patient’s needs and or physical changes. * Draw blood from veins by vacuum tube, syringe or butterfly venipuncture methods. * Draw blood from capillaries by dermal puncture. * Dispose of contaminated sharps in accordance with applicable laws, standards and policies. * Enter patient and specimen information into EHR. * Write daily notes according to the Federal and State guidelines. * Communicate with the MD regarding patient’s status, obtaining additional orders if necessary. * Ensure that all HIPAA/OSHA standards are in compliance. * Assume responsibilities for self\-development by continually striving to improve his/her knowledge through educational programs, attendance to workshops and conferences to keep all certifications up to date. * Observe confidentiality and safeguards on all patient\-related information an...
