**Summary** ----------- The City of Asheville is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the Streets Division Manager within the Public Works Department. The purpose of this position is to serve as a subject matter expert and perform administrative, supervisory, professional, and technical civil engineering work in overseeing the activities of the Streets Division. With a staff of approximately 60 employees, this position oversees multiple work units and programs including field operations, capital improvements, code compliance, and more recently, Helene recovery efforts, all related to the construction and maintenance of the City’s streets (410 miles), sidewalks (188 miles), and rights\-of\-way. Performance of the work required for this position includes the use of considerable independence, initiative, and discretion within established guidelines. This position acts as a liaison for the City and therefore must maintain effective working relationships with a variety of private, public, and community representatives and organizations, consultants, contractors, the public, grantors, and regulatory agencies.
